The name Kula is derived from a cultural phenomenon in Papua New Guinea, where special treasures are passed from person to person, the temporary ownership of the objects endowing power and prestige upon its current owner before being passed on to the next recipient.
We want our customers to think of their Kula gift wrap as a treasure, one they pass on to loved ones they know will value it and eventually pass it on again. Every present leaves its unique shape imprinted in the folds of your Kula gift wrap, turning it into a living history of all the occasions it has celebrated, a record of the chain of people connected by giving. As your gift wrap is passed from person to person, year after year, it collects the marks from each individual fold, from every gift given, becoming itself an embodiment of its own history.
